Winter Weather and your Skin

Though the first day of winter is still a little over 3 weeks away, we have been slammed with unseasonably cold weather and the Sierra has been blessed with a nice, healthy layer of snow, sending thousands heading to the ski slopes! Winter can be a beautiful and fun time of year, but it presents a whole host of challenges for your skin. A recent article in Powder Magazine, "SKIING, SUN AND SKIN: Advice From a Dermatologist" by dermatologist Dr. Jessica Wu offers a good synopsis of skin issues in the winter and ways to address them. Though written specifically for skiers, much of the information and advice can extend to most of us who have to put up with cold weather outdoors and very dry forced air heat indoors during the winter months.

While the specific brands of skin-care products mentioned in the article aren't carried by us, our Spa West boutique does offer many quality moisturizing and sun-block products from Dermalogica and our new line of Glo Therapeutics from Glo Minerals! We may be in for a long winter, so stop by and stock up to make sure your skin stays healthy!
